Paraprofessional models of civil legal service delivery are moving from proposal to practice in a growing number of jurisdictions. The Community Pathways to Justice Convening brings practitioners, researchers, and leaders from courts, legal aid, and community service organizations together for two days. Participants will share what they have learned from implementation so far, what challenges remain, and what questions the field is still working through.
This convening is an educational and information-sharing event. Attendance is by invitation.
Each day is designed for a different audience and focus.
Day 1 – Monday, December 7: National Perspectives
Civil legal leaders, judges, court administrators, and researchers will compare approaches to paraprofessional programs across jurisdictions. The day will look at program design, implementation experience, and emerging research.
Day 2 – Tuesday, December 8: Texas Focus
Legal aid organizations, community partners, and local leaders will look at how these models are developing in Texas. The day will center on practitioner experience, lessons learned, and opportunities for collaboration among service providers.
